Verdant pastures and emerald isles are the overriding themes this year, in this spectacular musical showcase by the San Diego Symphony. Joined by Grammy award-winning Irish fiddler Eileen Ivers, Holiday Pops celebrates all things Celtic and all things Christmas at the grand Copley Symphony Hall. Irish favourites include the ancient and beautiful Wexford Carol, the Holly Tree, and a rousing “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing”, performed as only the Irish know how – in the rhythm of a traditional jig.
Matthew Garbutt leads the San Diego Symphony, together with unforgettable performances from the San Diego Master Chorale, the San Diego Children’s Choir, and Immigrant Soul. A heart warming and hauntingly beautiful concert to enjoy on your San Diego vacation, Holiday Pops plays three nights in a row this weekend, from Friday the 21st until Sunday the 23rd December. A Saturday matinee is also available, and Saturday night’s performance is pre-empted by a load of exciting Christmas activities for the kids just before the concert begins.
